Inter Milan stretched their lead at the top of the Serie A table to nine points despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Parma.
Parma had slipped to 13th in the standings following a run of six games without a win but they showed great determination from the start to frustrate their opponents.
Valeri Bojinov, on loan from Manchester City, then fired Parma into a surprise lead in the 54th minute.
Inter responded almost immediately as substitute Mario Balotelli drew them level just four minutes later.
Parma were reduced to ten men when Francesco Valiani was sent off with 16 minutes remaining but they held on for a crucial point.
