Higuain Set For New Real Deal

Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to be rewarded with a new long-term deal with Real Madrid.

Higuain has been a consistent performer at the Santiago Bernabeu and he has managed to keep his first-team spot even after the club splashed out on new strikers this season.

Real signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema this season to boost their attacking options but Higuain remained a key figure for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

According to AS, Real are set to offer Higuain a new deal that will give him parity of earnings between him and Benzema.

Real's Sporting Director Jorge Valdano has said talks have began with the player's agents and an announcement is expected to be made shortly.

Higuain recently marked his comeback from injury with a goal against Espanyol last weekend.
