OFFICIAL: Bolton Wanderers Appoint Owen Coyle As Manager
Bolton Wanderers have today confirmed the appointment of former Burnley boss Owen Coyle as their new manager.

The former Clarets boss has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with his new club.

Reports indicate that a compensation package of around £3.6 million has been agreed between the two Lancashire clubs for Coyle's services.

Trotters chairman Phil Gartside was delighted to finally clinch the deal to bring the former Republic of Ireland international to the Reebok Stadium.

"Owen was our number one target and we are naturally delighted that he has returned to the football club as manager," Gartside told his club's official website.

"He was an inspirational player who leads by example and a great motivator, and on behalf of everyone at Bolton Wanderers, I would like to say welcome home."

Coyle himself echoed his manager's delight at the appointment adding: "I'm absolutely delighted to be back at Bolton Wanderers. I look forward to the opportunity of bringing the good times back to the club for everyone."

Coyle, born and raised in Scotland despite winning international recognition with the Republic of Ireland, played for the Trotters as a striker for two-and-a-half years between 1993 and 1995.

He played 78 games and scored 23 goals during his time at Burnden Park, and was an integral part of the team's impressive cup runs and promotions during that era, when the Trotters claimed the scalps of the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal.
