Werder Bremen's Mesut Ozil is playing for time as he continues to leave the club's fans in suspense over a new contract.
The Germany international's current deal runs until 2011 and he has already turned down his club's advances over an early extension.
"I just need time to think," he told the Bild newspaper. "This is about the next three or four years. It's about my future.
"Aaron Hunt has only just extended his contract six months before it was due to expire so why shouldn't I do that?"
Waiting another year would certainly leave his options open and Ozil is not hiding the fact that he would love to join Barcelona one day.
"That is my dream club and (Lionel) Messi plays with them," he added. "But I have a contract until 2011 and, up to now, I haven't had any thoughts about moving."
Ozil will come up against Messi as Germany take on Argentina in a friendly at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
