Catania coach Sinisa Mihajlovic paid tribute to his players for their tenacity in their 3-1 win over Inter Milan on Friday.
Mihajlovic, who was formerly Inter's assistant coach and player, also tried to put the win into perspective by saying his team have to build on this win.
“Catania are a team who always try to win, against everyone,” said Mihajlovic.
“My lads never stop believing. After Inter took the lead, many people would’ve thought the game was over. Instead my players believed and won the match deservedly.
“We won a fantastic game, but it is still only worth three points in the table. It is by continuing to play like this that we will avoid relegation.”
Catania had not beaten Inter here in over 60 years, but President Antonino Pulvirenti believed this win is not as satisfying as the one against local rivals Palermo.
“This is one of the greatest victories for me, second only to the 4-0 derby win over Palermo,” said the patron.
“We are satisfied and happy with the three points, which coming against Inter feel like they are worth far more.”
