Gerard Pique has revealed his shock upon learning about Real Madrid’s early exit from the Champions League.
Real were upset by French side Lyon, with Los Merengues getting edged out of a spot in the quarter-finals.
"I did not think they would go out this early," he told Barca TV. "But we know how the Champions League can be. It is something for us to take heed from just before we play our game next week."
The defender added that Los Blancos' demise in European competition may not be all good for La Blaugrana, as Real can now direct all their efforts on La Liga.
"It is true that Madrid will now only have the league to go for and they will drop very few points as a result. Things will be difficult," Pique added.
Pique also took time to talk about this Sunday's game against Valencia.
"All their players have great ability. Defensively they work very hard and that will make it difficult to win," he said.
"Now every game means a lot. There are less games left every week and to lose points would hurt us in the run-in."
